As we checked out of the Brussels hotel and made our way to the airport we talked about the fantastic run of shows we've just enjoyed, 6 fab Albert's and these four latest steamers. Bernie's driving team dropped us off at the airport and we said our farewells "see you in Turkey". Another short hop and we're walking through the VIP 'tube' at Luxembourg airport,

then in-car with Mannfred once again on our way to what is a slightly surreal location for the gig. Belval is located 4 kilometres from Esch-sur-Alzette and 20 kilometres or so from the City of Luxembourg.

Sited on land leveled for the former installation of blast furnaces, on the now waste industrial land at Belval-Ouest, in the South of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The address of tonight's venue was the source of a little mirth, Avenue du Rock and Roll'. Doesn't look very rock'n'roll to me.

The venue itself was classified by Colin Barton, our chief backline roadie as the easiest load-in of the tour so far. It's a new building and has been specifically designed for concerts. (unheard of in the UK) The trucks are able to drive straight into the hall and unload directly onto-stage. The acoustically treated internal walls mean that there is NO slapback, and the place has good general acoustics. Having said all that, the sound boys did have to do battle with a bass drum that was feeding back and setting off all sorts of bass frequencies on the stage. It was dealt with by Kerry and Dave with considerable aplomb.

No danger of that.
Catering today

Chris, Richard and Dave chatting outside the venue, probably about tonight's long journey down to Rome.

Another quite fantastic audience and another speedy runner to the plane for a 1 hour 40 minute flight to Rome. Our last flight with our stewardess Fiona was celebrated with sushi, then upon arrival we;re picked up buy Gunther's driving team 'G'. That's three cities and all three driving teams in one day! Check in to the delightful hotel here in Rome and once bags arrive it's out with the kettle and teapot, call down to room service for fresh milk and a solitary bedtime cup as everyone is exhausted. Diary addicts will recognize the teapot!
