The spectacular University of California Greek theatre is another one of those venues much anticipated by both band and crew. Literally the only slight drawback to playing here is that it can get a little chilly in the evening and tonight was no exception. Built in 1903 by William Randolph Hearst it's owned and run by the University of California at Berkeley and very well run it is too. The backstage staff are exceptional and everyone from the security and promoters team to the local catering staff makes the touring party feel very welcome. We arrived at the normal time mid-afternoon and donned our sweaters for sound check. A meet and greet was performed in the outdoor area behind the stage and thanks to a few of those outdoor heaters, the tops of our heads were warm.

Colin Barton and Glenn Saggers at work below, doing what they do each day to remove buzzes and hums from the various systems. Today, there was a buzz on Mark's guitars cured by Glenn soldering the earth from Mark's rig directly onto the ground support truss. I often see Colin wandering around before sound check with long lengths of earth cable in his hands.

OK, the light was good so I snapped this of Glenn's workplace. As you can see, it's not as simple as you'd imagine. Glenn has his hands full the whole show long..I mean to get a closer look at all this in the next few video diary episodes which I'm putting together now.

Mark's guitar array being protected from the elements.

I know I seem to be repeating myself by saying this but.. a fantastic show, a fantastic crowd and a wonderful evening. We timed the show to perfection too walking off the stage one minute before our eleven o'clock curfew.
