They say that 'time flies when you're having fun' and I think that's a fairly accurate gauge of how much we've enjoyed this leg of the tour, it's just flown by. Sixty three shows and every one completely and utterly enjoyable. It still feels like we're just getting started and I can honestly say that none of us have ever been involved in a tour that was so well balanced. We said our farewells to a few more members of the crew notably the drivers, both band, truck and bus. We also said goodbye (briefly) to Glenn and Richard who are heading home today (Monday) so the band runner was a lightly more complex affair as the available seats on the plane were taken by Simon (lights) Dave FOH sound and Mr. Saggers. Matt stayed on board as he heads home to LA Monday from London.

What a day to round off the European tour, we started it in Istanbul and I was keen as ever to lay by the pool and once I'd had a bite to eat and packed the bags for home did just that, for about three hours, before it was time to check out. The Ciragan Palace hotel in Istanbul was the most expensive of the tour but the delightful location meant that no-one was complaining. As it was Sunday, the traffic to the airport was moderate and we were there in about half an hour, then it was a very fond, slightly sad farewell to Bernie, Dominika and Fabian who have been quite the best driving team. Through passport control for the fourth time here at the GA terminal in Istanbul and out to the plane for the last time. On board was Christian the captain, Michael and Linda serving us all the way home to Luton via Athens.

A short flight and we were soon being driven up the windy roads leading to this stunning venue with views over the whole of Athens. The Lycabettus theatre was the first venue I ever played outside the UK, back in 1982 with Roxy Music, this was the first show of my first ever world tour, fond memories. Here are some shots from the day.

Here's a shot of Mike, 'in the field'.

The US leg beckons and indeed as I type this, the gear is on it's way to Denver. Six days off then and I shall be enjoying them at home. See you in the States.
