After waking admirably late in Zurich and having my daily meusli, Dan called to ask if I fancied a stroll before we left for Italy. Downstairs in 10 mins and we were outside in a surprisingly chilly 4 degrees C.  Since neither of us had Swiss Francs Dan decided to use an ATM. Unfortunately he didn't notice it was not in service and it ate his card, we then spent the next 45 minutes retrieving it and thankfully the bank were very helpful. We went back outside and it started to rain so we aborted mission. Checked out and on our way to the airport we had to wait for a thunderstorm to pass but we were soon off and over the Alps and into Milan.

Strange vending machine at the executive terminal in Zurich, epaulettes and flight maps.

The beauty of the Swiss/Italian Alps.

A short drive to the Datchforum and a quick soundcheck then on to the meet and greet. As is often the case, we didn't know we would be doing one until the last minute. A particularly good rendition of Daddy's gone to Knoxville...

Me with my new stage chair. It's a 'Soundseat' and a pal of mine Paul Jepson now imports these fabulous musicians' chairs into the UK. He brought it all the way from the UK for me and not a moment too soon as last night my old one fell apart quite literally before the show. Laurence said there were bearings all over the stage before he re-assembled it!

Just in...

Guy Fletcher is more known as member of Dire Straits and The Notting Hillbillies, and as producer and keyboard player for Mark Knopfler. He has started his own record company in order to release his first solo record. Guy Fletcher plays most of the instruments himself, but the record features guests like Robbie Macintosh, Danny Cummings and of course Mark Knopfler. His style is more pop-rock than both Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, but it might be difficult to reach others than their listeners. Fletchers voice is more than good enough, and tracks like “Different world” and “See myself inyou” you should work as good as Jim stärk and Josh Rouse on the radio.
