The grandeur of The Chicago Theatre often leaves its visitors breathless. The elegant lobby, majestic staircase and beautiful auditorium complete with murals above the stage and on the ceiling, are components of an amazing building called "the Wonder Theatre of the World" when it opened at a cost of four million dollars on October 26, 1921.

One of the pre-show rituals. Matt makes us all a cup of ginger, lemon and mint tea. It really clears the larynx's and soothes the throat so we're ready for our warm up excercises.

We expected a really great crowd tonight as Chicago audiences have always been particularly good to us, we weren't disappointed. The first thing that struck me as I walked on stage is the sheer beauty of this auditorium. It's a lot wider than the halls we've been playing in the last week or so and as I hear later the sound was magnificent.
As we walked into our hotel after the show, Ringo Starr's band (Billy Squier, Colin Hay, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Hamish Stuart and Gregg Bissonette) were also arriving back from their show and since some of us know some of them we decided to meet up in a bar across the road for a few delicious beers. Sonny Landreth showed up as well and it was great to see him again. Also Lee Ann Womack saw the show and was here with her husband Frank Liddell, a delightful chap. Another great visit to this wonderful, probably our favourite, US city.

The 3,600 seat auditorium is seven stories high, more than one half of a city block wide, and nearly as long. The vertical sign "C-H-I-C-A-G-O," at nearly six stories high, is one of the few such signs in existence today
