Woke this morning pretty late, well I got to sleep late again due to the revelers outside. These Norwegians really know how to have a good time...in the street. I guess it's because the bars and clubs are obliged to close at 2am so rather than go home, everyone just pours out onto the streets and carries on drinking..and singing! It must have a lot to do with the fact that it stays light all night at this time of year too!
A visit to the gym was in order and the Grand hotel gym is adequate but there was a guy in there on one of the treadmills who was wearing some seriously bad aftershave. In the gym for god's sake!.. I made a point of opening all the windows and doors but I doubt he got the point. After a good sweat-up (and stink-up) it was back to the room for tea and a refreshing bowl of fresh fruit, yoghurt and muesli. All very healthy. I then spent the rest of the available time before the show to work on the video which is now finished and I will be uploading it as soon as I can. It's a bit busy today as I'm writing this at the TV2 television station as I'm supposed to appear on God Morgen again in a while. (9:20 I think) (200,000 lucky viewers)
So it was a night of little sleep for me..
At 4:00pm I went downstairs to meet up for the cars to the venue only to be embarrassed by the fact I've read the day sheet wrong and it actually says 4pm - doors open. 5:45pm - depart hotel. Oh dear, so it was back to the room where Danny met me for a cuppa and I set about knocking together a trailer for the Pieta Brown and Bo Ramsey Video.
We left for the gig at 5:45 as per the day sheet and arrived 10 minutes later just in time for the rain. No sound check once again. The Norwegian Wood festival is a long established event on the Oslo calendar, I believe it celebrates it's 20th anniversary next year. The event staff were great, well organized and the local catering was fabulous. A barbecue selection of burgers, pork ribs, steak etc. I stuffed myself and immediately regretted it as it took ages to digest. How many years have I been doing this? and I still can't regulate what I eat before a gig. Ah well.

The gig is on the site of a water park, what I thought was a disused water slide is actually very much still used, just not this weekend.

Another fantastic gig but this evening we were lucky with the weather as about half an hour before show time, the rain stopped and, wait for it, the sun actually came out. This set the scene for a sell-out show of 8,000 happy fans. As always with outdoor shows in the daylight, I can't help watching the faces out there. It's off putting but this evening it was great as the crowd seemed to be mostly younger folks and there was were groups of kids singing along to every word in songs like Romeo and Sultans.
Pete grabbed my camera and took some shots from the side of stage..

After the show we decided to stay behind for a change as it was quite a trek to the cars and the caterers organized some more food, just what I didn't need. After a short while we were back at the hotel where it was straight to bed for me in preparation for tomorrow's God Morgen TV appearance. Have to be up at 5am. Aargh
