page 5 - Bangalore - Palace grounds - March 7th

Mark myself and indeed the whole band received another warm welcome into the Taj hotel in Bangalore. This time we had Jasmine flower leis traditional red smudges on the forehead and music from the above group. Mark is wearing the traditional Bangalore turban.
The show once again was great and if anything the crowd here were better than Mumbai.

Mark was suffering from a particularly nasty throat infection and for a while we were uncertain as to just how long the show would be. He saw a doctor and looked after himself on the day off and although he was in great pain and couldn't really sing 100%, he persevered admirably. He mentioned his ailment to the audience and wondered if they could help out with the singing which of course was no problem as everyone in India seemed to be singing along to EVERY song anyway. Especially the old stuff.

After the show, we once again were whisked off in the cars, this time with a police escort. Back to the hotel for a quick change of clothes and then onto the airport to catch a midnight flight to Perth via. Singapore (which is where I'm compiling this entry)

These are the four trucks which picked up the gear from the airport and took it to the venue. Our crew said that the local help was first class, extremely willing.
Nothing was a problem for them. The same goes for pretty much everyone we met in India.
Laurence Adams. Laurence looks after both keyboard rigs on the tour. You may be able to see that the Wurlitzer piano is covered with silver tin-foil. The reason being the transmissions from the television mast (Bangalore central) the tall needle-like structure you can clearly see in the background were interfering quite severely with certain on-stage instruments. In particular the Wurly and Matt's Hammond B3. The crew were once again put to the test to try and come up with solutions, and along with other things, the bacofoil had a screening effect for the most affected. We only noticed a minimal buzz in the monitors and I would imagine the crowd noticed nothing. By the way, did I mention Laurence is a genius.

Harry McCarthy, Chad's drum tech took this shot of the stage in India.

Onward to Oz...
