2007 recording diary

week 4 - Jan/Feb 2007

Chuck's famous post-lunch cappucino delight (well at least he's good for something...kidding)

running through a few things on the Bechstein upright

We moved out of studio 1 into studio 2 as there was an orchestral session booked. Richard, our assistant had his work cut out as he had to completely break down our setup (drums, perc, pianos, hammond, guitars) and set up for the 38 piece orchestral session. Then later that night he broke all that down and set us up again..perfectly I might add. Needless to say he didn't get much sleep for 2 nights.

Chris White came into studio 2 for a day of flute, Tenor sax, Alto sax and Clarinet. As always, it's great to see and hear Chris.

Glenn and Dan locking in to another pass

delicate manipulation on Cubase 4. We've switched from Nuendo to Cubase 4 now.

Glenn playing the 1961 Fiesta red Precision that we've adopted as the album bass

Mark takes the percussion rig for an overdub

more knobs, who knows what they all do?

Guy goes Indian.
Abida Parveen, here's your new backing guy!....this harmonium was an e-bay special, bought from a delightful chap in Birmingham UK for £50 or so. He even sent indian scarves with the instrument, possibly a guilty concience as the thing is a quarter tone sharp and squeeks like an epileptic mouse. We gave it a good run for it's money though after transferring a mix to tape and varispeeding the machine and transferring it back to dig.
