3rd June 2006 - Arena di Verona- Verona

Surely this is one of the most spectacular venues it is possible to play. I know that some of us were getting flashbacks from the Straits shows here in September 1992. Scouring the web for weather data convinced me that there would be no deluge this evening and thankfull there wasn't, just a wonderful typically balmy Italian evening. As the hotel is close to the venue, Danny and I walked through cobbled streets to sound check.. The combination of fabulous acoustics, stunning historical setting and passionate audience ensured that this was the best show of the tour so far and will be difficult to beat. Emmylou was spectacular as was Danny, infact I think it's fair to say the whole band rose to the occasion. One thing I don't recommend in this arena is running up the ancient steps to the top as I did to take this panoramic pic of Stuart, Glenn and Matt taking in the views.

Glenn Saggers the guitar 'magician' spends the entire show tuning guitars, changing Mark's amp settings with his myriad of buttons and devices AND changes his guitars on the stage. He has a guitar change every song.

Dave Saunders - ace keyboard tech has plenty to do during the set too

Glenn with Oz March, one of the riggers who somehow rig/de-rig the stage every day. Oz was with us many times in the past with Straits etc.

anyone for a teenager?
